And God said,
This is the token of the covenant
which I make
between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between
me
and the earth.

A Reminder to Pray!

Today the building committee, deacons, and pastor are meeting again to discuss plans for our church's new building and I know so much prayer is needed on their behalf! We've had the privilege of hosting their meetings a few times and as I've taken a peek into their meeting room, I've been reminded of the incredible blessing of having godly men working together to discern the Lord's leading for all of us.

Especially to those of our church, let's remember to constantly uphold our leaders in prayer. There are so many ways we can pray for them, but most importantly, pray they would accurately discern God's will - that it would be confirmed by the unity of spirit they experience, and that God would grant our highest desire: that HE would be glorified and magnified in all things, equipping our church in every way possible to reach farther and deeper in to our own "Jerusalem".

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
I Peter 2:9-10

We are all inspired by your unfailing diligence, your love for the Scriptures, understanding of truth and ability to teach it, your standard for excellence in everything you do, your endurance in raising children in godliness, and your fatherly love! May God bless all the works of your hands for His glory and for the furthering of His Kingdom. We love you and are thankful to the Lord to have as you as our Dad!

A Sneak Peek... Behind the Scenes

>> Thursday, June 10, 2010

As many of you know, Dad has written a powerful book on our experience with Sarah's accident and recovery. The book opens with life as we knew it in the early stages of 2005 - our family temporarily living in another state to be with Sarah in the hospital while she was in a coma.

She had a traumatic brain injury after being broadsided by a semi truck going 65 mph, and as Dad journaled our days and the lessons the Lord was teaching us, he didn't know how the book would end. We had no promises, no guarantees for the future. In fact, Sarah was ranked by one professional as being in the bottom 3% of those with any likelihood of recovery! As the days, weeks and months unfolded, God was shaping and molding us with each experience, including learning how to go through a crisis with Biblical guidance.

II Corinthians 1:3-4 says, "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God."

In order to be a good steward as this passage suggests, a 3 part system is being developed including the book, Changed Forever: How to Lead Your Family Through a Crisis, a workbook and a DVD series for small and large group study, all scheduled for release this year.

I went with Dad and Mom to vvi for recording session #4 in order to catch a few shots behind the scenes. Thought you might enjoy a glimpse in to the work at hand!

Please pray for the blessing of God on this study set! Pray the hope this book points to would be a beacon of light to the many who are seeking help, that it would be profitable and instructive to many others besides us, and that God would be glorified in every detail.

In the Cleft of the Rock

>> Sunday, June 6, 2010

And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by,
that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock,
and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
Exodus 33:22

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life with the depths of His love
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.
- Fanny Crosby

Have a wonderful Lord's Day!

Battle Hymn of the Republic

A friend shared this quartet with me just yesterday, and I thought you all might like to hear it as well - enjoy!

He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave,
He is wisdom to the mighty, He is honor to the brave;
So the world shall be His footstool,
and the soul of wrong His slave, Our God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Our God is marching on.

- Julia W. Howe
